Install Solution Recommendations
Slip Solution
Mix 2 ml of Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo per 32 oz of distilled water.
This formula provides the right balance of glide and tack control for both HydroClear and Color Series films.
Tack Solution
Use distilled water only.
Apply moderate pressure to activate adhesion for edges, recessed areas, and contours. Both series respond predictably, providing clean edge locking and minimal distortion.
Post-Heating
After all edges are sealed, post-heat with a heat gun to ensure complete adhesive set and long-term stability.
Avoid overheating – slow, even warming yields the best results.
Liner & Storage Guidelines
All Gloss and Satin films feature a cap sheet liner to protect the surface and prevent tunneling.
Key Tips
- Store rolls tightly wound in a cool, dry environment.
- Always remove the clear liner before plotting to prevent static buildup and surface marking.
Plotting & Cutting Tips
- Remove the cap sheet liner from gloss films before plotting.
- Always perform a test cut to fine-tune depth settings before full panels.
- Use fresh blades – both HydroClear and Color Series cut cleanly with minimal resistance.
Installation Tips
- Unified Film Behavior
Both HydroClear and Color Series films share identical handling – same stretch rate, same tack response. Once familiar, you’ll move effortlessly between clear and color installs. - Controlled Stretch
ONE PPF’s elastic 7.5-8.5 mil TPU construction allows clean, even stretching with minimal color distortion or haze, even on deep recesses. - Edge Wrapping Made Easy
Our proprietary Edge-Seal Technology helps the film naturally self-wrap to edges for a tight, long-lasting bond. Work to the panel’s edge and let the film settle — no excessive tension needed. - Cutting Precision
Expect light resistance and clean knife flow. Use sharp blades and adjust your depth slightly lighter than typical multi-layer films. - Vehicle Preparation & Disassembly
Removing mirrors, emblems, and handles ensures cleaner lines, reduced contamination, and eliminates premature lifting. - Film Orientation
Align seams with factory body lines or place them out of direct view. For color installations, pay attention to grain direction and light reflection.
